Deer Run RV Resort, Crossville, TN

Image
Is it bad that we miss Windemere Cove? We rolled into Deer Run on the 17th of September. Deer Run is a nice park with a lake and small beach area, lots of golf carts, and the sites are close together. Our site (#341) was a nice open site with plenty of room. There are lots of what appears to be permanent residents, but the rental sites were some distance from most of these sites. The resort is huge, and they have left as many trees as possible. They allow fishing in the lake although it is catch & release. They advertise that wifi is available and it is, you just have to pay for it. I am glad we have two hotspots for internet access. It was mostly rainy while we were there so we didn't get to get out very much in the park. We did go to the Stonehaus Winery and got some nice wines after doing a tasting. We ate lunch at Bramble Berry Cafe that is next door to the winery.  The cafe is setup inside like an old house and is full of eclectic treasures for purchase. The dining t...

Windemere Cove, Langston, AL

Our stay at Windemere Cove began on the 2nd of September. Windemere Cove would turn out to be one of our favorite places so far. It is a distance from everything so it is quiet most of the time. The exception is football game time as a number of the campers here actually own their site and they have made improvements that include patios, cabanas, tv’s, and outdoor kitchens. At game time they have parties, even then it is not overly noisy. Windemere Cove is situated on Lake Guntersville with direct access to the Tennessee River. There are two boat docks and a boat ramp. Greg fished from the dock and caught some small Largemouth Bass, they were a little too small to keep. He enjoyed being out there in the calm early morning. There is a boardwalk along the lake that makes access to the main dock easy and safe. From the board walk we were able to see the resident Great Blue Heron and the first evening we saw a huge owl, it was getting late so there was not enough light to make a good ...

Here is a map with an overview of our travels in August 2021.

Memphis Jellystone Camp-Resort, Lake Horn, MS

We arrived on the 20th of August. Jellystone was a short trip from Sherman RV, so it was a good shakedown. We picked Jellystone because of its proximity to where Cheryl’s oldest sister and her husband live. We had several good visits with them and Steve cooked some steaks on the grill that were some of the best we have had in a very long time. Way to go Steve. Our focus for this stop was getting the new rv organized. Not a trivial task, since we apparently did not downsize as much as we thought we did. At least we were able to put everything up so it is half way organized. I think we will be reorganizing often until we find the right combination of things and location. We went to the Super Walmart in Southaven, MS and were surprised at how many shelves in the grocery section were poorly stocked. Actually, the whole store was a mess. We were able to enjoy the pool at Jellystone. It was a lot quieter than we thought it might be, so that was nice. One drawback was the campground is i...
