Life's Next Journey - The Beginning

 
In 2020, Cheryl and I decided to downsize and live full-time in our motorhome. We spent most of the next year and a half downsizing 40 years of stuff and treasures. The process was slowed by the shutdown.
 
On June 30, 2021, we closed on our house and no longer have a sticks & bricks home. Then on July 2, 2021 we left WV on "Life's Next Journey". The included photo is the first RV park we stayed in as full-timers.

 July 14 - July 25 We had originally planned to spend two weeks at the FamCamp on Ellsworth AFB, but found this campground that was a better choice for seeing the sights without as much back and forth. This is an interesting park, we are wall to wall in our space. Our tow is parked beside us in the grass, ok'd by owners. There is a covered picnic shelter with two tables in between us and another site. Kind of unusual for us but not a problem either. Not all spaces have the covered picnic area. The trip to our site was very tight, the tree limbs rubbed the top of the coach and we went very slow because of the tightness. Not our favorite park but we've been at worse. We did use the laundry facilities so it wouldn't heat up our coach. There is a pool but we didn't use it. We had several extremely hot days (107F) and the breakers for our section tripped several times. The park is scheduled to have the electrical distribution  on this row repaired by an electrician. Sleepy Hollow Campground, Wall, SD

 We arrived in Wall on June 30 for a two week visit. The campground is adequate, walking distance to downtown Wall with all the shopping you wish. We didn't use any of the facilities at the park. Be aware that you are next to the railroad tracks. Trains were intermittent but when they came through at night, you knew it by the long whistles. We went to Wall Drugs for breakfast and were disappointed, the eggs and sausage were over cooked and the 5cent coffee was like water. The dough nuts on the other hand were really good.  All the food prices are high but that seems to be the case everywhere. We were close to the Badlands and visited several different times.  The best adventure was our sunset drive on the ridge road loop. We saw several singular bison, lots of prairie dogs at Prairie Dog Town. As we continued we came upon a herd of bison and calves. This herd seemed to be mostly cows with their calves, at least 50. Memphis Jellystone Camp-Resort, Lake Horn, MS

 We arrived on the 20th of August. Jellystone was a short trip from Sherman RV, so it was a good shakedown. We picked Jellystone because of its proximity to where Cheryl’s oldest sister and her husband live. We had several good visits with them and Steve cooked some steaks on the grill that were some of the best we have had in a very long time. Way to go Steve. Our focus for this stop was getting the new rv organized. Not a trivial task, since we apparently did not downsize as much as we thought we did. At least we were able to put everything up so it is half way organized. I think we will be reorganizing often until we find the right combination of things and location. We went to the Super Walmart in Southaven, MS and were surprised at how many shelves in the grocery section were poorly stocked. Actually, the whole store was a mess.
