Mountain Glen RV Park, Pikeville, TN
We left Two Rivers Landing RV Resort on August 9, 2021. The next stop was Mountain Glen RV Park, were we stayed from the 9th until the 15th.
Mountain Glen is a small family owned park in a very rural area.
The surrounding area is also a Mennonite community. We went to two of their produce stands and the veggies were great. At the produce stand closest to the campground, we got a loaf of sourdough bread and some oatmeal cookies fresh from the oven. Yes, they were delicious. The picture of the mums was taken at this produce stand. At the deli we got some smoked turkey, smoked ham and smoked Swiss cheese. WOW, what a great sandwich.
We went to the local General Store where Cheryl fell in love with a bentwood rocking chair. Since we live in an RV we had to leave the rocker there. We did get some fresh eggs though. We decided to take the back-roads back to the campground. These roads are mainly used by the Mennonites and their horse drawn wagons, so they are unpaved gravel/dirt. We came upon a truck pulling a wagon load of fresh cut lumber. The truck was stopped in the middle of the road because the front left wheel had broken loose from the axle. The driver decided to try and drag the trailer. Well, the axle dug into the road and in short order had stopped the truck in its tracks. This left the road mostly blocked. The two guys in the truck unhooked the trailer and drove off. Cheryl got out and watched to keep me away from the trailer as I squeezed by. Just another adventure.
Greg went out about 2 AM to watch the Perseid meteor shower. He took photos as well. In the two included images you can see a meteor in each one. You can also see some small oblong objects, those are galaxies.
