Carrollwoods RV Park and Vineyard, Guideway, NC
We arrived at Carrollwoods on December 24, 2021, we stayed for a nice and peaceful month.
Carrollwoods is a veteran owned park and family run. It was super quiet most of the time. Our site was at the end of a row which gave us a little more room that made it nice for sitting outside. It is out in the county away from the hustle and bustle of the beach cities like North Myrtle Beach. The drive into places to shop or eat was 20-30 minutes depending on where you were going.
We found a seafood market (Platt’s https://www.boulineaus.com/platts-seafood/ ) in nearby North Myrtle Beach. They have fresh seafood and will cook it for a small fee. They have a lunch & dinner menu. The fried oyster basket had the best fried oysters we have ever had. The owners of Platt’s own a number of other stores including an IGA grocery store that is definitely worth the visit.
While at Carrollwoods we experienced a rain storm that turned our site into a small lake. But, the water went away over night and at most was only an inch or two deep. The next week we had an ice storm that put down about a half inch of ice. Crazy weather all over this year for sure.
A trip into Tabor City to see the town did not take long as it is small. It was interesting how the train track split the downtown, the track was probably there before the two lane highway was built. While there we took a chance on the local Chinese restaurant, that was a one time deal as the food was not good.
There is a local Italian food distributor that opens a small store (Da Vinci’s https://www.davincifoodsretail.com/ ) on Thursday and Friday. They have authentic breads, pastas, sweets, meats, sauces and much more. We will be back. The almond biscotti was awesome as was everything else we got. After shopping at DaVinci’s we went into Calabash to a local coffee shop (Coffee Cottage) as we like trying small local shops. The coffee was really good.
We took a short trip to Wilmington so we could go to a Sam’s Club for a few things. It was an interesting trip as we went through an older upper scale neighborhood and enjoyed seeing the older homes.
Both of us needed a haircut. We went to Great Clips in Ocean Isle. Never again.
