We stayed at all of these places in July 2021. I think our favorite was the first one, Deer Creek in Galax, VA.

Lake Greenwood Motorcoach Resort, Greenwood, SC

We left New Green Acres and went to Lake Greenwood Motorcoach Resort near Greenwood, SC. We stayed there from July 21 until July 28, 2021. LGMR is one of those places where you can own the site and improve it as you wish based on your budget. It is obvious that some do not have a budget, some of the sites are really fixed up with additional patios, outdoor kitchens and such. As an owner, you can also rent your site while you are not using it. As you can see, we were not in one of the fancy sites. Our site was one that has not sold and we enjoyed the solitude. We had planned on spending much of the week doing a little sightseeing and spending time at the pool. Well, Cheryl caught a head cold and wasn’t up to doing anything but sleep. Cheryl started feeling better and then Greg caught the cold. It could have been the pollen, going in and out of air conditioned buildings in the Florida heat that did us in. Neither one of us had been sick like this since sometime in 2019. One day, we ...

New Green Acres, Walterboro, SC

We stopped here for one night the first time in October 2019 on our way for Florida. This time,  July 21, 2021, we stopped again for one night leaving Florida on our way to Lake Greenwood Motorcoach resort in South Carolina. New Green Acres is not a resort, but it is a nice place to overnight and the price is right at $35.00. It is located at I-95 Exit 54. There is not much at this exit although the Cracker Barrel was very good this time. It might have been our best quality meal so far. For more dining and shopping options, there is a lot more at Exit 57 in Walterboro, SC. Driving in torrential rain was not fun with one windshield wiper. We stopped for gas and I found the E-clip had come off of the linkage for the passenger side wiper. I had a large E-clip in my box of parts and was able to make it fit with the help of a pair of pliers. It held until we got to New Green Acres. I even found the correct size E-clip and washer at an AutoZone. I did not want to rely on the E-clip I ben...

Clay Fair RV Park, Green Cove Springs, FL

Image
Can you tell we made it to Florida? Tall skinny pine trees, no shade, and flat. We spent the better part of two weeks (July 8-20, 2021) in Clay County, Florida registering vehicles and getting new drivers licenses. All of the registrations and issuing of the new drivers licenses was completed during one appointment at the Clay County Tax Collector’s office in Green Cove Springs. Before arrival, I had tons of questions and the customer service folks at the Tax office were were very knowledgeable. With their information and information provided by our mail service we were well prepared for the dual purpose appointment. While in Clay County we stayed at the campground connected to the Clay County Fairgrounds. Website: https://www.claycountyfair.org/p/about/clayfairrvpark . The RV park is not a resort by any measure, but they have 50 amp power service (very important if you have two A/C units like we do), water and sewer. It is also well kept.   The park is fenced with a gate that...

CreekFire RV Resort, Savannah, GA

Our next stop was at CreekFire RV Resort Savannah, GA. We arrived on July 7, 2021. We got the RV set up and we went to the pool for a while. The pool time sure was relaxing. This was supposed to be just a one night stop on our way to Florida.  But a lady named Elsa had other plans.  The day of July 8 was pretty calm, but things started picking up some in the evening.  It was not too bad where we were. Being in an RV during severe weather is not the best place to be. I had pulled our large slide in so that it was not subject to any high winds as the cover over the 17’ slide makes a pretty good sail. The picture is a screen capture of Radar Scope on the iPhone, the blue circle indicates the approximate position of the RV park we were in. We look forward to going back to CreekFire and enjoying all of the amenities.  The website is  https://www.creekfirerv.com/

Life's Next Journey - The Beginning

Image
In 2020, Cheryl and I decided to downsize and live full-time in our motorhome. We spent most of the next year and a half downsizing 40 years of stuff and treasures. The process was slowed by the shutdown.   On June 30, 2021, we closed on our house and no longer have a sticks & bricks home. Then on July 2, 2021 we left WV on "Life's Next Journey". The included photo is the first RV park we stayed in as full-timers.    This is site # 45 at Deer Creek Motorcoach Resort in Galax, VA.
